WOTD
aberration: a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected
Example: The aberration in the test scores led Mr. Restad to question whether the students really studied or just cheated.

AGENDA

  • Source Credibility Statement Review:
    • Example: Investopedia is a website focused on educating and reporting on trends in investing, owned by DotDash Meredith and IAC, who also owns numerous other magazines and websites. Both companies promote fair and unbiased reporting according to their sites and to Wikipedia. This 2025 article focuses on the basics of investing for people newer to the practice. It has a reviewer, a fact-checker, and 15 cited sources.

AGENDA
  • SSR
  • Credibility Statements
    • Complete the "Source Credibility Statement" question posted in Google Classroom
Lateral read for, like 3 minutes, and write a two-three sentence summary highlighting why you think this source is credible/reliable.
Example: The author of this 2023 article, Kiesa Ray, is an educational consultant writing for EdTech, an online magazine reporting on technology trends in Education. Though, this site is owned by CDW, a Fortune 500 company that sells IT solutions and tech to businesses and they may have a vested interest in promoting tech in schools, the fact that the writer is critical of screen time and sources scientific based studies adds to my comfort in believing the accuracy of this source.
