Gardiner Special

Gardiner Special

Stephen King once said "If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There's no way around these two things that I'm aware of, no shortcut." So, as a final to this class, students will be asked to work on a sustained project.

For your final project, your task will be to DO SOMETHING everyday. No days off. You will pick one of the projects and skills below and work on developing a final project.

Grades will be based on quantity, effort, and the ability to put in work/stay on task every day. YOU WILL NOT FINISH THIS.
put. your. phone. away.

Writing Portfolio:
  • Create an online writing portfolio using a website builder like Wix, Weebly, or WordPress
    • Create an "about me"
    • A compiliation of your writings (from this class, though you may include other writings as well)
  • You must write and include at least two new works.
  • Example
    • Make it relevant: Focus on your niche or expertise. Are you a creative copywriter, an engaging storyteller or an SEO expert? Show your strengths with titles like “Words That Sell” or “Stories That Connect.”
    • Keep it professional: Your title should reflect your skills while staying polished. Pair your name with your focus like “Alex Green | Creative Content Writer” for a clear and professional impression.
    • Show creativity: Use this as an opportunity to showcase your writing style. Play with wordplay or a touch of personality. A title like “Pen, Paper & Profits” is fun and clear.
    • Stand out: Choose a title that’s unique and memorable. Avoid generic options like “My Writing Portfolio.” Instead, spark curiosity with something like “Crafting Words That Work.”
    • Test and refine: Try different ideas and gather feedback. Small tweaks can make a big impact.
Photography Portfolio
  • Create an online writing photography using a website builder like Wix, Weebly, or WordPress
    • Create an "about me"
    • A "resume" page
    • A comiliations of your photos (from this class, though you may include other writings as well)
  • You must include at least 5 new photographs.
  • Example 1, Example 2
    • Curate your best work: Select only your strongest and most representative photos. Quality over quantity is key.
    • Showcase a range of skills: Include a variety of styles and subjects to demonstrate your versatility.
    • Tell a story: Arrange your photos in a way that tells a cohesive story or highlights a particular theme.
    • Use high-resolution images: Ensure all images are high quality to showcase your work at its best.
    • Include a personal statement: Add a brief introduction or artist statement to provide context about your work and vision.
    • Organize by category: If you have diverse work, consider organizing your portfolio into categories like portraits, landscapes or events.

  • You may use other Podcast recording tools (like Riverside)
  • Your goal is to produce 3 episodes.
  • Podcast ideas
