Based on our fill in the blank sentences from yesterday, we should have come up with something like this.

1. The struggles and experiences between the two communities of which Junior is a part of actually help him develop a stronger sense of self-identity.
2. The use of Junior's awkward, but extroverted nature strengthens the idea that Junior feels out of place in a single community and wants to go beyond societal expectations.
3. Given that Junior still feels out of place in both white and Native American communities, the author is trying to show that there is more to a person than just a single, stereotypical view of the world.
4. In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Sherman Alexie's semi-autobiographical Native American protagonist, Arnold "Junior" Spirit, transfers to a predominantly white high school 22 miles away from his reservation in order to pursue educational success.

To finish your intro paragraph, invert the 1st and 4th sentences to look like this.

In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Sherman Alexie's semi-autobiographical Native American protagonist, Arnold "Junior" Spirit, transfers to a predominantly white high school 22 miles away from his reservation in order to pursue educational success. Given that Junior still feels out of place in both white and Native American communities, the author is trying to show that there is more to a person than just a single, stereotypical view of the world. The use of Junior's awkward, but extroverted nature strengthens the idea that Junior feels out of place in a single community and wants to go beyond societal expectations. The struggles and experiences between the two communities of which Junior is a part of actually help him develop a stronger sense of self-identity.

THEN
Begin to search for specific quotes that support your ideas presented in sentences 2 and 3. These ideas will become the subjects of your body paragraphs.
