Google Classroom Codes
  • Period 2 - bgvqsx
  • Period 3 - qg7qa4
  • Period 4 - 3aulob

Assignment:
1. Finish the  “Forming Opinions – The Crucible” Google Classroom Assignment. Don't forget to respond to peers! Try using the sentence frames below.
  • Contradict
    •  While I agree with your point about ________, I think…
    •  Your point assumes _______, which I would argue means…
    •  I share your belief that . . . , but question . . .  due to . . .
  • Affirm
    •  You’re right. Your claim about ________ challenges society’s outlook on ________.
    •  You offer an effective explanation of why ________ happens, which is especially useful because___________

2. When you finish, you are begin to read and annotate the poem “Half-Hanged Mary” located on the table at the front of the room. This is not homework, but you should have the poem read and annotated at least by the end of class.

ANNOTATION literally means "to make critical or explanatory notes or comment on a written work." Check out the image below for a GREAT example of what looks like annotation. So, as you read the poem “Half-Hanged Mary” I want you to implement the following annotation techniques.
  • Summarize what’s going on in each stanza in one short sentence
  • Underline powerful words or images, be sure to underline at least 2 per stanza
  • Make connects or ask questions
  • Define words if you need to

3. When you’ve annotated, you can start working on questions on the back of the paper. Be sure to read directions; HOWEVER, I know it says to write the answers, but please type them in Google Classroom if at all possible.
