Today's Agenda

ASSIGNMENT - DUE WEDNESDAY
Socratic Discussion Prep
  • Big Question: How does a society balance collective security and individual freedoms? How should a society respond when threats (real and imagined) to security or freedom arise
  • Create your response to the Big Question and be sure to reference how ideas or actions in The Crucible could be used to support your answer:
    • Things to think about: When should communities  either give up freedom for security? How should a community label people as dangerous, bad, or evil.
  • Then, to help us discuss the meaning behind the play further, write one interpretive question about the play.
    • Example: Why did Arthur Miller choose to use the Puritan society for the setting of this play? What did it add?
