REQUIRED RESEARCH STANDARDS
  1. Gather relevant information from multiple authoritative and credible sources  to support analysis, reflection, and research
  2. Synthesize multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation
  3. Produce clear and coherent writing that is appropriate to the task.
  4. ​Introduce a topic by organizing complex ideas, concepts, and information in writing.
  5. Introduce precise, knowledgeable claims and establish the significance of the claims.
  6. Develop claims thoroughly, supplying the most relevant evidence for each while pointing out the strengths and limitations of both.
  7. Create an organization that clarifies claims, reasons, and cited evidence.
  8. Provide a concluding statement or section that  supports the argument.

  • IF you've completed Complete all research assignments
  • IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED YOUR RESEARCH ESSAY YET, you are now working on the abridged assignment below
  • Do a brief outline today of your research conclusion 

Abridged research essay requirements (Highest grade possible is a C)
  • MLA format (12 point font, 1" margins, double spaced, Times New Roman)
  • minimum 700 words (not including works cited)
  • minimum of 3 sources used 
  • Turn in Note Chart.
  • Create an outline that connects paragraph ideas with supporting researched evidence.
  • Intro paragraph
    • Introduce topic: background and relevance of issue
    • Craft YOUR thesis (must be specific, defendable, and arguable). Underline your thesis before turning it in.
  • minimum of three body paragraphs (you may use more)
    • Use topic sentences
    • Must use cited evidence (use a signal phrase + in text citation where appropriate) for each body paragraph. Direct quotes must be fewer than three lines of text.
    • All evidence must be explained and analyzed. 
  • A conclusion
    • Restate the thesis. Summarize the main points.
    • Connect the significance of this issue to your thesis or the impact of this topic on our community/world.
    • Conclude your thoughts.
  • A works cited page 
  • Turn in paper on Google Classroom AND turnitin.com
