AGENDA
Explore research topics you are interested in and want to explore through multiple perspectives

• Check out Mr. Restad’s “Choosing a topic” page to outline what is required for your topic.
• One of the hardest parts of choosing a topic is finding one that interests you, is narrow enough to be manageable, but also intriguing enough to keep your interest for weeks to come. 
  • Too broad = US Immigration policy. This is probably a 20-30 page paper to do well. 
  • Just right = Immigration policy for people who are brought to the US as children.
• Discuss your topics with your group to help come up with ideas.

Fill out the "Preliminary Research" chart posted on Google Classroom to get to know the conversation surrounding your topic

• Familiarize yourself with what is currently being discussed in academics, the news, or in government about your topic.
• What is controversial? Where do people agree or disagree on your subject? 
• Start defining key issues and terms that are associated with your topic. 
• Keep notes on what you think you know currently, what you are learning, and what where the gaps in your knowledge are. 
• Keep notes! As you are reading, keep a list of websites you visit and what information they hold.
