Continued watching through Act II of the Crucible.

Began answering the following questions:

1. Elizabeth says she doesn’t believe in witches. Why might this disbelief shock the Reverend Hale so much? Consider his profession and past actions.
2. Describe John’s behavior so far in the play and interpret his actions and attitudes. Are they justified? Reference the play to support your answer, but direct citations are not needed.
3. Miller wrote this play during anti-communist hearings of the 1950’s. He stated, “I saw accepted the notion that conscience was no longer a private matter, but one of state administration.” How does this idea of the 1950’s apply to the witch hunts we’re reading about?
